A singer / songwriter / entertainer who lives in the town of Fergus, Ontario. Paul was born In Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Raised in Kitchener, Ontario where his father was a police officer and his mother had her hands full with a family of five children. Many fond childhood memories, are reflected in some of his original songs. Music has always been an important part of his life. "One song that always stuck with me (The Cry Of The Wild Goose) was often played by my parents" He started playing the piano by ear at age five, sang in church choirs and remembers his first hard earned money was spent on a Phillips reel to reel tape recorder (some things never change). In high school, football, judo and wrestling took second place to music. However shortly after graduating he "hit the road" with a band called "The Jades". In 1971 Paul and his childhood sweetheart Patricia Robertson married and moved to Guelph, Ontario. He tried his hand at running a music store among other things but crossing paths with two brothers by the name of Todd found him back on the road in a popular show band called "Hourglass". Many years of playing with this band and several of his own, sharpened the entertainment side of his personality. Again he left the road to settle down and tried his hand at many things, car sales, real estate, and jingle writing, leading back of course to making music. He renovated a big old house and was a Big Brother to a great kid named Tim. In March of 1989 a very important person entered the lives of Pat and Paul. His name is Jonathan. As it turned out another career change to house-husband was in order. "no complaints" and lots of inspiration to write songs in between bottles, diapers and the usual chores. One song written specifically for Jonathan and all the children of this world is "A Song For Canada". Written when his son was just three years old, Jonathan actually performed on the last release and has backed up dear old dad at many live performances. A move to the Fergus - Elora area about eight years ago has led to many interesting developments, performing at the Highland Games as a soloist and with many friends. Re-releasing of "A Song For Canada" resulting in radio airplay and an ongoing album project "So Many Songs". Most recently "Let The Rivers Run" and "A Rose In The River" have been chosen as cuts on a compilation CD being produced as an environmental fund raiser along with such well known artists as Nonie Crete, James Gordon (Tamarack) and Gwen Swick (Quartette).
Paul has performed as a soloist and with
his own band(s) at several Canadian Events locally, in
Ottawa and other communities. He performed original songs
at the River Run Centre in Guelph for the "Grand
Celebration", as well as having chorus and lead parts
in the theatrical productions "Brigadoon" and
"Meet Me In St. Louis". some
reunion gigs with "The Hourglass
Band" and continuing
writing and recording original and cover tunes keeps him
musically active. Selling Cars at Marden
Motors keeps the paychecks rolling in. |
